Statement on Megan Williams Recant of Abuse and Torture.

On 10-21-2009 Megan Williams through the legal representation of Attorney Byron L. Potts "recanted " her charges of abuse and torture.

Despite Megan Williams new denial, there is overwhelming evidence that shows she was indeed held captive in the rural West Virginia shed where she originally said she was raped and tortured over the course of several days.

Megan Williams first made national headlines in 2007, when investigators said the young woman had been beaten, stabbed in the legs, raped and forced to drink urine and eat animal feces.

Since that time seven people all confessed to their crimes and pleaded guilty. All but one was sentenced to jail.

Brian Abraham, the former Logan County district attorney who prosecuted the case is reported to say "I can't believe what she is saying now."

What Williams initially told the told the police is substantiated by overwhelming evidence against them. They confessed to their own crimes and made statements against each other. And everything they said was further substantiated by physical and forensic evidence."

None of the people convicted on any of the charges were convicted on Megan's testimony.

There was present physical evidence against all of these people and also their own statements.

They all pled guilty and then confessed to what they did and also said what the other people that were involved did as well.

Megan Williams has been living in Columbus, Ohio with a woman by the name of Valencia Daniels. Who has been gracious enough to serve as a caretaker for a little over a year .

Reverend Lloyd Hill , who's a pastor in Charleston,WV was one of the first people to interview Williams and talk to her after she was brought out of Logan County and in the hospital.

According to Gary Harki on National Public Radio, a reporter with the Charleston Gazette in Charleston, West Virginia, Reverend Hill states;

"this was such a tragic situation for a young woman who basically has the mind of a child".

This is not the first incident of violence from one of the charged.
Bobby Brewster the stated boyfriend when he was a juvenile, was convicted of killing his father. He also had a record of domestic violence against Megan Williams in the past.

Karen Burton, in a court of law pled guilty to a hate crime for shouting racial slurs at Williams as she assaulted her.

Former Logan County Prosecutor Brian Abraham also called the "recant" an insult and a slap in the face to the numerous investigators who worked on the case.

Her adviser at that time was Attorney. Malik Zulu Shabazz founder of Black Lawyers For Justice and National Chairman of the New Black Panther Party For Self Defense. Atty. Shabazz worked night and day criticizing the plea agreements, and building a strong defense and support for Megan Williams.

Atty. Malik Shabazz now believes that Williams is being manipulated and stands by the evidence that she really was tortured.

The enemies of the black nation, truth, freedom and justice have historically used false propaganda, manipulation, lies and deciet to make the victims of physical and systematic abuse and oppression believe that they are not in reality being abused, and much of what happpened to them if not all of what happened them is only a "figment in their imagination".

The enemies of black people and oppressed people throughout the world have always sought to present a case of "fraud and hoax " when it comes to the real suffering faced on a daily and consistant basis of Black and Indigenous people.

Then they cry real tears when the lash of justice leaves a whep that lies and the deciet cannot heal.

Attorney Byron Potts has taken a case he himself admitted he "questions".
So we ask you sir, " What is your motive"?

Atty.Shabazz has been outspoken over the handling of the case. Speaking on behalf of Williams and her family, Atty. Malik Shabazz was the key component in urging authorities to pursue hate-crime charges against the accused .

Atty. Malik Shabazz says, "I love Megan Williams, and I'm embarrassed,'' he said. "This case could have a lot of negative consequences for our people and the legal system in West Virginia, and our people who organized and marched through the streets.. I must come forward and tell them they were not duped.''

Atty. Shabazz organized a march and rallies in Charleston on Williams' behalf, and said those events and other fund-raising earned more than $20,000 for her.

Atty. Malik Shabazz, with the assistance of Black lawyers for Justice also, The New Black Panther Party has begun to develop proactive "Wrap-Around" programs that will provide but not limited too, counseling, therapy, life skills, trust fund and social services to assist Megan Williams in her recovery.

We Stand behind the efforts of Chairman Malik Zulu Shabazz and The New Black Panther Party and will work, to ensure that no matter where in the country injustice happens the defenseless will be defended .
